Cataracts is a cross-linking of proteins in the lens of the eye which is caused by glycosylation. Glycosylation is the enzymatic process that links saccharides (sugars) to produce glycans, either free, or attached to proteins and lipids. This causes the lens of the eye to become opaque and cloudy which reduces vision and, if left untreated, will eventually lead to blindness.

Diabetics especially suffer due to an accumulation of sugars in the lens of the eye, so all diabetics will eventually suffer with cataracts unless the condition is addressed and treated.

As there is only this limited time-frame after the drops are applied, it is possible that the cataracts can continue to form at a faster rate than the drops are trying to dissolve them.

Having checked with Professor Gallant he has confirmed that the drops are completely safe and people could apply them every 30 minutes if they wanted to, with only beneficial effects.

He also agreed that the more NAC that you can deliver to the lens of the eye, the faster the cataract is going to be dissolved.

Apply Bright Eyes drops 5, 6 or 7 times per day to the affected eye(s) Only one drop per eye is needed for each application. One of the easiest ways to apply them is to lie down or put your head well back. Asking a friend, relative or partner to apply them for you helps avoid any wastage. Pull the lower eyelid down and then gently squeeze the bottle until a drop comes out. Instil the drop onto the centre of the eyeball and you will feel it when it goes in. Leave at least a 30 minute interval between applying different types of eye drops.
